Many parents would love to craft with their toddlers, but… life is full enough already. Between busy hands, limited supplies, and the mess that follows, setting up an activity that’s age-appropriate, engaging, and fun can feel impossible.

That’s where Crafty Crew Bern comes in.

May OPEN STUDIO:

3 creative stations for creative play
Sensory trays, open-ended materials, toddler-safe tools, and familiar basics (cardboard, crayons, paint) encourage deeper exploration, while grown-ups relax nearby.

This month the stations will be DIY Rain and Rainbow board game, "Body of work" collaborative painting and Construction site sensory station.

what is an open studio?

Crafty Crew Open Studio is a shared creative time for toddlers and their grown-ups. We focus on process-based art, exploring materials, movement, and ideas without pressure to “make something” or reach a specific result. Here, creativity unfolds naturally: curious, joyful, sometimes messy, and always child-led.

Over 90 minutes, families are invited to explore three thoughtfully prepared creative stations, including one gentle, guided activity. The space is designed to support open-ended exploration, allowing children to move freely, choose what draws them in, and engage at their own pace.

There is no “right way,” no pressure to finish, and no expectation that everyone does the same thing. Instead, we create a calm, supportive environment where children can experiment, follow their ideas, and simply enjoy the process of making.

a space for youger siblings

I have seen you.
For families arriving with babies or younger siblings, Crafty Crew now includes a small baby station — a soft mat with a gentle sensory experience that changes weekly.

It’s a calm, optional introduction to the creative environment, allowing families to attend together more comfortably.

practical details

Crafty Crew is not a drop-off program.
Grown-ups stay, create, and explore alongside their children. The space is designed to be as safe and supportive as possible, while caregivers remain responsible for their child at all times.

All materials and tools are provided

  • Toddler aprons are available on site

  • Please dress children in clothes that can get messy (washable doesn’t always mean worry-free)

Official language
Workshops are led in English, but we welcome families from all around the world. Process based art does not need tons of instruction, moreover play and art are universal languages that all humans speak.

Photo & privacy policy:

Your child’s safety and privacy come first. I may take photos during workshops, but I avoid capturing faces or identifying details. Shared images focus on crafts and tiny working hands only.

about me

My name is Liza (pronounced like Mona Lisa :) ). I come from Poland and have lived in Switzerland for 8 years with my husband and 2.5-year-old son.

aboutme_testy.png

I've loved drawing, painting, and creating since childhood. In elementary school, my dream was to become a painter. While that didn't happen directly, it led me to architecture and design, fields I worked in for a while. But my heart remained in art, so I returned to my childhood dreams and became a collage artist, never looking back.

When my son stopped putting crayons in his mouth, I began incorporating more art activities into our daily life. I can see how much he loves it, just as I did, and I know how beneficial art is for children's development—improving their motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and language development.

However, coming up with ideas, setting everything up, cleaning afterward, and not always achieving the results I hoped for (obviously) occasionally left me discouraged.

This is how my idea for toddler workshops was born: an English-speaking playgroup for parents or any caregivers who want to spend creative time without the additional mental load. Activities will have varying difficulty levels so everyone can enjoy their time according to their age and skills, curated to create results that are hopefully pleasing to the eye :)
